When it worked, the Kinect was a true leap for motion gaming, due to its controller-less design, motion tracking technology, and audio command features. The Kinect was bundled with the Xbox One, and was slightly improved from the previous model. Many fans were hoping that the technology could be further improved in the future, and the concept itself was very novel.
Playing a dancing game on the Kinect was a total joy back in the day. Despite the leaps that the Kinect took and the ground that it tried to break, the fact of the matter was that it barely functioned properly. The Xbox nearly flopped in its final days because so much focus went into the Kinect, and the Xbox One only focused on it during its early days.
As the Xbox brand moves forward, the Kinect should go back to the drawing board and come back once the technology is ready to truly leap forward with the generation.
Sometimes, simplicity is key. A game console that is complex in outer design might look high-tech and next-gen, but sometimes that comes at a price of portability and practicality. A classic-feeling black rectangular design may have given people a throwback to their classic VCR, but certain designs are classic for a reason.
Kid's don't always think before they act, and as a computer tech, I've had TOO MANY of my friends ask me to dissect their kids' computers because they saw them close the lid when they walked in the room. Call me overprotective, but I'm not gonna be one of these idiot parents that has a kid go on a shooting rampage and when asked how they didn't know, their answer is "I didn't want to violate their privacy, so I didn't go in their room.
Unfortunately, that means there won't be an XB1 in any of the kids' rooms. More parents needs to do what you are doing and a camera in a bedroom child without parent supervision is a big no no. Ofc customer can't dictate what a company sells. But they can point out bad policies and concerns that they have. Take for example, 24hr checkin. Anyway, in the end it's all about choices.
Xbox One might not be suitable for everyone, some will buy PS4 instead. What's funny to me is ppl talking about freedom and choice, and said tired of complainers. But then, they have the choice of not reading a thread with " blah blah Kinect blah blah Chances are there will be hater on the thread.

I believe if that is off, you can't use the Kinect voice command to turn the console on. I could be wrong, but I didn't have any luck with it until I turned the quick on feature on.
