Windows 7 32 bit theme service stopped? Hopefully, my learning the hard way may help you avoid going to far in this same way. I restarted the Themes service. It was started already, but restarting it fixed immediately. I didn't even have to go back in to the "Personalize" dialog to apply a theme. You can try the Microsoft Fix It tool. It will attempt to automatically diagnose and fix Aero problems such as:. Then search "Services" click it then scroll down and find "Themes" then somehow set it too automatic if it is already right click it then go to all tasks, stop the service then to start it again right click, all tasks, then Start service. I uninstalled right click on the mirror driver, left click on uninstall. Then re-booted. I got my Aero back! Taskbar icon peek and transparency restored.
It was not just un-checked, but missing entirely from the list. Re-starting Desktop Window Manager Session Manager service restored that option into that list in checked state. Active 4 years, 1 month ago. Viewed k times. Brand new machine that was working fine then randomly it changed the theme when I booted into a sort of "basic" theme white task bar, no see through windows etc I've done and attempted many fixes and I still don't understand why it doesn't work.
