User Info: j If your low hp, always run away until you get better and the game and can use your own judgement based on the enemy's hp and such. Always some type of health regeneration item at the start. Boot first usually is a no no for first items. Two heroes a lane, mid is usually solo in pub games.
Play with people who can help you. Don't dive enemy towers. Attacking enemy's by their tower will automatically make the enemy towers to attack you. Sorry for double post but, early game you want to either block your creeps to get tower advantage or go to a rune spawn and wait for the rune to spawn at User Info: JanwayDaahl.
If you get down hero hunting well, you're in good standards. Meh, It's not that I hate Scout, but I'm just tired of seeing noobs picking Scout and then ruining games with him. He's not a very newb friendly hero if you want to be good. User Info: azuresou1. Slither is easy-mode laning though - Poison Sting is great for harassing, and Venomous Gale is great for early kills and slowing. More topics from this board How does the level-up system work? General 3 Answers Is this a good game to play?
I sincerely hope the newer players among you use this so we can get out of the s. Intro :. PS- you should make it more clear that denying gives them half the exp, not all of it. But still blocks all their money gain. Haste just makes you run at max speed which is like ? Zergling meta boost, not adrenal. One it will trick the enemies to think you are one place when you are actually hiding waiting for a gank.
Good guide! Ideally, a team should consist of: 1 Carry 1 Initiator 3 Support. Nice guide, very useful for someone just starting up. Lots of positioning, psychology and reverse psychology goes on even with your allied partner trying to get last hits even last hitting heroes too.
There are also macros that announce to allies when the rune will be up i think this kind of crap is pseudo cheating but whatever. One of the biggest mistakes I see noobs making is just item selection.
There is a reccomended tab of items, if you are not sure what to get - just go with that. At the very least they will be decent items for the situation and team. Things like hatchet, shield, boots, bottle or just finishing up a bracer with all their startup money instead of buying another circlet and duck boot or something. Also the totem item cost 53 which is the most cost effective item this early, the problem with it though is that it doesn't transmute into much and you only have 6 slots in your bag.
So if you find yourself with money leftover and a slot or two it'd probably be best to go with a rune of blight and a totem instead of another duck boot or whatever. And totems are easily sold later on when you need more space for 26 gold. So you don't waste time standing around at the shop. Do your shopping as you walk back to the shop, it'll save time.
Just keep your eye on the minimap as you do it. The main goal of the first 10 minutes or so of the game is to stay in the lane as much as possible and gain the most money you can gain in the process. The more time you waste running to heal or searching around at the shop is bad. If you find yourself with a lot of money and low hp, don't forget you can buy items at the shop without you being there and they will be saved in you shop stash this way if you die and lose money it will prevent you from being unable to buy the items when you respawn and waste even more time running back later.
On December 04 hak wrote: is it not more worth it to always have a keeper of the forest or scout in your team which can place wards for free and contribute with their roles at the same time so everybody can spend money on good items? Why is nighthound bad? Also, read some guides on honforums as even thought they may not be the best, some are useful and one can learn fundamentals from them. Call out 'missing' heroes and be aware of enemy missing heroes without relying on allies too much.
Is clan teamliquid in TL active? Does the HoN logo next to name while in channel mean they are playing a game currently?
I never spoke to anyone in the channel. All the noobs should gather and play! To answer some questions: Nighthound is good hero, it's just people who pick him in pubs usually have no clue how to play him and just hope for other team failing at countering him.
His only downside is his frality which just like with scout and others when faced by a team that knows how to counter him i. Revolution: If playernames are greyed-out and they have HoN logo next to them then indeed they are currently playing a game. Nighthound is bad because he relies on invisibility to make up for his terrible terrible strength gain. Against any organized opposition he will promptly get shut down or chain ganked since he has no real laning skills except for invis, which will be useless anyway.
If he gets freefarm he can be a bitch of course, just like any other carry or semi carry. All heroes work in pubs. Simply put: their ults rape face in teamfights. Jeraziah is a 1-man counter to anything. Accursed helps mitigate a lot of damage for the team and is excellent lane partner for carriers.
Magebane is just scary if you let him farm his items and his 'you cast slower and get hurt from it' aura can be a real pain in the ass. Live Events Next event in 21m. Fnx Mang0 Online Event. Sucking a lot and trying to improve? This blog is for you! Introduction If you haven't discovered it just yet, HoN is a team game where your goal is to destroy the opposing team's main building or just owning them so hard that they give up earlier. In order to do so you must be quick, smart and what's most important - have good teamwork and understanding of the game.
You play as a team, you win and lose as a team. As a beginner, you want to play as many games as possible with as many heroes as possible. Knowing what certain heroes can or can't do is vital to your performance. Also, try to learn the intricacies of the map Forests of Caldavar as knowing the right routes, lines of sight at certain spots and stuff like that can save you on more than one occasion. Advice: Never play EM games.
You won't get any experience from them that will be worthy in standard games and you might catch a lot of bad habits. Hero Picking Picking a right hero is very important aspect of the game. That's why you must learn as much as you can about them all. Basically, heroes fall into several categories: Carry - usually agi or str heroes who specialise in dealing damage a lot of damage. There are only a few counters to this hero such as Electrician, Parasite or a Nullfire Blade, and even then he is still useful.
His repel allows carries or initiators to safely run into the enemy without being disabled too much not many heroes with super magic or physical abilities. Most importantly though is his ultimate that allows your team to heal up and become invulnerable to physical damage for a few very important seconds in any team fight.
Throwing ultimate and repel on a hero almost makes him invincible for pretty long time in team fights. Enemies will hate you if you know how to play Jeraziah and he's quite good in staying alive. Didn't see that gank coming and about to die? No problem, shield yourself and get away while the enemy can't burst you down.
Overall he has a big support potential and a lot of team fight presence. All of his spells are easy to use. His ultimate might need some center positioning of your team when activating, but the rest is just on target.
Highly recommended for beginners. Succubus The reason why Succubus is good to begin with is that she has a huge survivability potential and no item dependence to stay effective throughout the whole game. Her attack animation might suck, which makes it hard to last hit with, but she doesn't have to fear enemy harassment too much as she can just fight back with a Heartache to regain health and damage the enemy.
Her Mesmerize allows new players to get away from ganking enemies without much problem, just a simple click and he's disabled for a while.
Especially useful for people that don't know how to stay alive yet and want to work on feeding less in their games. She can be played either by ganking or supporting.
Both ways are effective and once you become better at the game, you'll notice that she still remains effective in harder games. Electrician If you ever come across an Electrician, you will notice how annoying he is.
His most important ability is the grip. It is a long duration disable that channels. If you use it, make sure you are using it on someone that could stun you, as stunning you would break the channel. Electrician can be useful in many ways. You could either make him super tanky and just chase your enemies down without dying or you gank the lanes and help your allies get kills. This hero can really take a handful of incoming damage the longer a game lasts and makes it extra easy for beginners to stay alive.
So if you have trouble by feeding too much in games, Electrician could come in really handy and maybe reduce the death count so you can focus on other important aspects of the game. Electrician is also one of few heroes that can purge remove buffs on enemies or debuffs on yourself like movement slows , while granting yourself or an ally additional movement speed and reducing that of enemies.
A good way to escape if you are in trouble and your tanky hero can't manage to survive. Only requires a tiny bit of knowledge to use his abilities to full potential. Recommended for beginners with survival problems. Not too hard to use and useful in combination with any decent ranged hero with good damage output.
Bubbles Not necessarily the easiest hero to play, landing all his abilities accurately, but this little turtle has a lot of survivability potential. So if you feed a lot and want to work on some more advanced improvement, then Bubbles really is a good choice. Not only is he one of the most viable competitive heroes, but he also allows for great casual games. He has two ways of dodging incoming threats.
One of them is his ability "Take Cover" which allows him to nullify all incoming damage and makes him immune to further effects for a short period of time and his other one is "Shellsurf" with which you can throw your shell in any direction and then click again to blink to that location. He's also multifunctional. Support probably least recommended, but just for that reason he is a good choice for any beginner. Demented Shaman Demented Shaman is a very powerful support hero. He has two strong heals and an overtime armor increase on allies or armor decrease on enemies.
Your job will be to save lives and destroy those that stand against you. He's one of the favorite supports in the competitive scene but also in lower tier games. The reason for that is mostly because he's pretty easy to use and has high influence on the outcome of a game and team fights.
His heal is a bit tricky at first, but with some practice you'll get the hang of how powerful it can be against enemies. The ability "Unbreakable" works like Accursed's shield with the difference that it adds a good amount heal after absorbing damage and thus keeping you alive even longer rather than damaging enemies.
He's also a great babysitter, especially because of how long you can keep your allies alive at any point of the game. Definitely one of the best supports in the game and very easy to play. Only has one area of effect positioning ability with a huge radius which makes it easier to use and otherwise target abilities. Great survivability potential and powerful support in any lineup. Want to make friends? Play this hero. Hammerstorm He might look like he's going to hit hard and in fact he does, but that's not the way he is meant to be played.
This hero is a superb ganker and should at no means be played as a carry. With that said, let's get down to details. Has one of the easiest and most effective target stuns in the game: His Hammer Throw. The Hammer Throw is a target enemy ability that throws a hammer and stuns the target and everyone in a specific radius around him for a few seconds. It has quite a huge range and allows for great ganks and initiations.
